The Skincare | 3

Finally, I end my current skincare loves with the goodies I love most: Serums, Oils, & Toners. These are the true game changers.

I’m constantly trying out new serums and oils but have finally settled on two particular oils that have made the most difference in my skin. My serums for the most part stay consistent, but I do love to try new ones from time to time. Then come the crème de la crème, pièce de résistance – acidic toners. These are the ones that I really haven’t changed up until this past month and boy am I glad I have! You want to see change in your skin? Acidic toners are the answer sent from above.

 Acidic Toners

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads and Pixi Glow Tonic are the two newest toners to my team thanks to Caroline Hiron’s blog. So far I’m obsessed and I use the Pixi one at night and the FAB one in the morning. I have also loved Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner (that’s my fourth bottle) and S.W. Basics Toner and used both faithfully until my newest toners arrived. I love using acidic toners because they really make the biggest difference in skin texture and the absorption of the products that follow.

Serums

For the morning I like to use either the Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum or my little sample of Sunday Riley Good Genes (on my wish list!) For the nighttime, depending on my skin, I’ll switch off between Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Treatment and Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Advanced Recovery Complex II sample. I use the Ole Henriksen one almost every night but only a tiny amount. It contains both glycolic and lactic acid which is great. The Vitamin C serum is also great because it contains 7.5% ascorbic acid and has definitely brightened my skin.

 Oils

Yes, I have combination oily skin and I use facial oils. I feel like these really help to bring a glow to my skin and any needed hydration. I found this brand, Slice of Nature Marula Oil, on Amazon and I think it’s great when my skin is feeling more dry. It smells a little weird, most oils won’t smell that amazing anyways, but I’ve gotten used to it. My favorite oil, and one I use constantly, is Sibu Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil. I have zero complaints.

Good Can Come Out of the Bad

“Our scars make us know that our past was for real.”
                                                                    — Pride & Prejudice

Stumbled upon this quote whilst reading my Jane Austen 5-Year Journal. I adore everything Jane Austen has written, it’s just so – ah.
That aside, reading this quote really made me think. Sometimes in our lives when bad things happen, while going through it we feel like the pain is so intolerable that we’ll never make it through. At least in my life, that’s how hard times have felt. Looking back on all the rough road I’ve trod through, I’m grateful. It’s in those times, where we truly learn about who we are individually, that we are able to grow into even better versions of ourselves. We learn valuable lessons that will help down the road in our lives. It was real, it happened, and it’s apart of your story now. It’s funny how it works that way, but our scars are what makes us, well, us. Original and completely one-of-a-kind. Being at a part in my life that feels like nothing is going the way I had planned it years ago (nope, I haven’t become a makeup artist/ actress yet) it sometimes gets pretty hard in the day. Regardless, I still am me and have my own gifts and dreams to offer to the world, just like all of you out there as well. My point is, embrace your scars. Wherever you’re at, whether good or bad, one day you’ll look back and see how much you’ve grown. It truly is a beautiful thing.
