Autumn Lip Hues

With Autumn comes the sudden change in the colors around us.
The swipe of a new shade of lipstick may be just what’s needed to get into the autumnal mood.

I don’t know what it is about this year, but I’ve been feeling quite bold with my makeup. Though I’ve always loved a classic red lip I’ve never been able to build the courage to wear it out without feeling way overdressed. Reds are fun though, as are berries. The first jump into wearing them I felt uncomfortable and as the day progressed I started thinking, “You know what, I like bold lips. As long as I feel good that’s really all that matters.” Red lip? No problem, wear it! Deep burgundy lip? Do it. That’s been my motto and I have to say, it’s been refreshing.

 Berries

Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in Mauve It Over is probably the lipstick I’ve had the longest out all of these picks. It’s a really pretty deep mauve plum color. I love to dab it on and blend out for a nice berry stain or full on with L’Oreal Colour Riche Le Gloss in Really Rosé layered on top. Fresh Sugar Berry has been an everyday staple in my bag lately. I used to be obsessed over the Rose color but ever since I’ve tried this, it’s my new favorite. It’s one of those apply it and go colors – hassle free. My newest purchase is Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stain in Parisian, this specific product is so nice for longevity. It’s definitely on the more dark burgundy color spectrum but not on the vampy side of things. Buxom Full Bodied Lipstick in Menace is gorgeous. This is more on the vampy side but so flattering and goes perfectly with a natural eye and a big fluffy white scarf.

Reds

A little while back Revlon released a collection of older discontinued lipsticks ranging back to the 50s, 80s and so on. I snatched up Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Fifth Avenue Red and I’ve gotta say, color-wise, it’s probably one of the most flattering reds in my collection. Last and saved last for a reason, Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Outlaw. Oh. My. Word. Absolutely stunning classic red color. It’s super long-lasting meaning I tried to wipe it off with a tissue and nothing budged. Nothing. It stays put. The doe foot applicator is perfect for shaping the lips and the color dries to a nice matte finish. I only have one other matte red in my collection and this one takes the cake by far. I have got to try some of the other colors in this line. Points to Kat Von D!
So, after the hoards of products mentioned (what can I say I’m a bit of a lip product junkie) that concludes all of the colors I have been reaching for and highly recommend for this time of year.

This vs That: Cleansing Oils & Facial Wipes

Taking off your makeup. Many stand by their own technique. Today I am here to give you my two cents.

Ah facial wipes, they’ve accumulated such a huge following haven’t they? I will admit to owning two packs of facial wipes, both by Ole Henriksen (Grease Relief & The Clean Truth), however I hardly use them if I’m honest. I bought them before my trip to Korea thinking I’d use them more whilst traveling but nope, my cleansing balm was more loved. Wipes are handy to have for workouts or in a pinch but I find them very dehydrating. Cleansing balms and oils, on the other hand, are a saving grace. All the dirt and grime of the day washes off leaving your skin hydrated and completely makeup free – lovely. I always follow up with my actual cleanser after but the cleansing oils are what take the cake. I know, if you have oily or breakout-prone skin you’re probably ready to scroll on but hear me out first! In high school I had more oily skin as opposed to my now combo skin and I avoided oils like the plague for the longest time until just a few years ago. It’s life changing. Most of the time, when people have oily skin, they try to dry out their skin as much as possible. It then tries to compensate for the loss of oil and thus you’re left with an even worse mess than when you began. When you use cleansing oils and facial oils, it hydrates and balances things out. Try it out and see if it makes a difference. If you’re washing all of the cleansing oil off properly there really shouldn’t be a problem. As for actual facial oils, find one that suits you and give it a go! I can’t live without those either.

I should note that I’m no expert so if you want more skincare advice from an actual professional, check out Caroline Hirons! Her blog is awesome if you’re wanting to know more about skincare.

That Time of Year

As I write this, I feel this sense of utter excitement. October has come and gone and now the holidays awaits us. It’s Autumn. The air is a little more crisp. The clothes are a little more cozy. Hot tea and cider become daily staples. The smell of freshly baked pies, cookies, and homemade soups fill the house as the fireplace crackles. Sometimes, I find myself standing outside just to breath in the air, feel the chill on my nose, and watch as every breath produces a cloud of frost. This is my favorite time of year, if you haven’t guessed. I watch countless movies about love, family, and of course, Santa Claus (or Father Christmas for others.) The thick fur blankets come out from hiding and slippers with fuzzy socks are worn. Present planning, buying, and wrapping all have a tight deadline. Lights twinkle everywhere from the neighborhood, to the shops, to your own Christmas tree. I like staying up late leaving nothing but the tree lights on just to watch them reflect on everything around me. It’s such an enchanting time of year. Welcome, holiday season, I’ve missed you quite a lot.

The Skincare | 3

Finally, I end my current skincare loves with the goodies I love most: Serums, Oils, & Toners. These are the true game changers.

I’m constantly trying out new serums and oils but have finally settled on two particular oils that have made the most difference in my skin. My serums for the most part stay consistent, but I do love to try new ones from time to time. Then come the crème de la crème, pièce de résistance – acidic toners. These are the ones that I really haven’t changed up until this past month and boy am I glad I have! You want to see change in your skin? Acidic toners are the answer sent from above.

 Acidic Toners

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads and Pixi Glow Tonic are the two newest toners to my team thanks to Caroline Hiron’s blog. So far I’m obsessed and I use the Pixi one at night and the FAB one in the morning. I have also loved Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner (that’s my fourth bottle) and S.W. Basics Toner and used both faithfully until my newest toners arrived. I love using acidic toners because they really make the biggest difference in skin texture and the absorption of the products that follow.

Serums

For the morning I like to use either the Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum or my little sample of Sunday Riley Good Genes (on my wish list!) For the nighttime, depending on my skin, I’ll switch off between Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Treatment and Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Advanced Recovery Complex II sample. I use the Ole Henriksen one almost every night but only a tiny amount. It contains both glycolic and lactic acid which is great. The Vitamin C serum is also great because it contains 7.5% ascorbic acid and has definitely brightened my skin.

 Oils

Yes, I have combination oily skin and I use facial oils. I feel like these really help to bring a glow to my skin and any needed hydration. I found this brand, Slice of Nature Marula Oil, on Amazon and I think it’s great when my skin is feeling more dry. It smells a little weird, most oils won’t smell that amazing anyways, but I’ve gotten used to it. My favorite oil, and one I use constantly, is Sibu Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil. I have zero complaints.

Good Can Come Out of the Bad

“Our scars make us know that our past was for real.”
                                                                    — Pride & Prejudice

Stumbled upon this quote whilst reading my Jane Austen 5-Year Journal. I adore everything Jane Austen has written, it’s just so – ah.
That aside, reading this quote really made me think. Sometimes in our lives when bad things happen, while going through it we feel like the pain is so intolerable that we’ll never make it through. At least in my life, that’s how hard times have felt. Looking back on all the rough road I’ve trod through, I’m grateful. It’s in those times, where we truly learn about who we are individually, that we are able to grow into even better versions of ourselves. We learn valuable lessons that will help down the road in our lives. It was real, it happened, and it’s apart of your story now. It’s funny how it works that way, but our scars are what makes us, well, us. Original and completely one-of-a-kind. Being at a part in my life that feels like nothing is going the way I had planned it years ago (nope, I haven’t become a makeup artist/ actress yet) it sometimes gets pretty hard in the day. Regardless, I still am me and have my own gifts and dreams to offer to the world, just like all of you out there as well. My point is, embrace your scars. Wherever you’re at, whether good or bad, one day you’ll look back and see how much you’ve grown. It truly is a beautiful thing.

The Skincare | 2

Now things get really glamorous, and by glamorous I mean deep mythical monster glamour.
You know, pampering in a bubble bath with candles, maybe some music and tea.. and then a scary green, white or even worse black crust on your face.
Sounds attractive.

The Treatments

Here are just a few treatments I’ve been using. I have an entire stash of treatments from masks to peels that I just couldn’t bare to show you all – you know out of embarrassment of my addiction. The first two masks are both from Mario Badescu who I highly recommend. Like a good best friend, I lean on this brand when I don’t know where else to turn. The first mask, Mario Badescu Whitening Mask does exactly what it says. Not whitening per se, but it lightens problematic areas like hyper-pigmentation or dark spots (which I don’t have yet, thank goodness.) I don’t know if it’s normal, but I find that I get a bit of a sting when I first put it on. Regardless, its done its job well and I love to use it the day after I’ve used the PMD for an extra hyper-pigmentation punch.
The other mask, Mario Badescu Healing & Soothing Mask is also pretty self explanatory. If you’ve been a little too harsh on your skin and attacked it with products, first off, take a step back and give your skin some room to breathe, and then try out this mask. It never hardens like clay masks but stays pretty creamy. I find that it calms things down a bit, nothing dramatic but just some pure “ahhh-ness.” That made sense right?
Lastly, and probably my current favorite is the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel Extra Strength Formula. I picked this up when Sephora was having that big $15 and under sale over the summer. This little guy makes my pores so happy. It makes me happy. It makes my makeup application happy. It’s just one big happy fest after using him. Yet again, I do not use this product immediately after I use the PMD or derma roller or even the day after, as that would just be too much. But when I do use it, dryness is gone, product goes on like buttah and it’s just bliss. In fact, I might use this tonight. Treat yo self, right? Yes, I just said that, out loud as well.

Next up: Oils, Serums, & Toners.

The Skincare | 1

Skincare has been having a moment recently and I had to share.
I don’t know what it is, but this past year I’ve really sparked an interest in skincare from ph balancing, acids, oils, the order to apply products and slightly frightening skincare tools.
Makeup is lovely, really, I’m still obsessed but skincare is the base of it all. The (no pun intended) foundation for your makeup. Even if you have less than perfect skin, taking care of it the right way goes miles!
Tools Of The Trade

I’ve owned the Clarisonic Pro for a while now and actually stopped using it for a couple of years. It wasn’t until this month that I finally jumped back into it and bought myself the deep cleansing brush head. I had stopped using it originally because it started making my skin veryangry and now looking back, I think an old brush head was the culprit. Now I use it nightly and love the results it gives. So fellow Clarisonic users, learn from my should-have-been-obvious mistake: Change the brush head.
The next tool that is now a special pampering treat is the PMD or Personal Microderm Abrasion. This is going to sound scary but it basically sucks your skin into the dip at the end and gives some serious exfoliation hence the whole special treat thing. I tested it below my ear on my neck per the instructions and was able to see what pressure my skin could handle. It doesn’t hurt at all but feels rather strange instead. Read the instructions first and watch the video though so you don’t hurt your skin. It’s always better to be safe than sorry. That being said, it’s fun to use and gives really gorgeous smooth results! Since it’s essentially removing the outer layer of skin, any products you use after are better absorbed so I love to use my more special products at this time.
Finally, I have my newest tool, the dermaroller. I did some research on this thing as it looked and sounded really frightening. It looks like a massaging wheel device but with scary teeny tiny needles. I’m really selling this aren’t I? I tend to be adventurous when it comes to skincare so I gave it a whirl despite my nervousness. Basically, it’s supposed to “wound” or “puncture” the skin so that it can repair itself with newer healthier skin. A lot of people seem to use it for aging but also dark spots, scarring, or hyper-pigmentation. Since I’m still veeery nervous about it, I use it very gently only in the areas I feel need it. I don’t have a set time I use it but rather when I feel my skin has had time to heal between uses. It works great in conjunction with the PMD but definitely not at the same time (don’t want to over exfoliate!) Also, in order to prevent any infection or annoying spots, I always sterilize beforehand by giving it a nice long soak in some alcohol. I’ve got to say, for the month I’ve been using it, I’ve seen some pretty great results! My hyper-pigmentation has significantly decreased and things are looking a lot more even. Let’s see where this goes in another few months..
* update: I’ve recently started using a different roller than the one above and thus the link will take you to the newer and in my opinion better option. I use it less frequently now maybe once every two months.

So, those are the tools I use for my skin. Next up in the series: My current most reached for treatments.

Most Used | August

I’m sorry June & July, I seemed to have skipped over you. No hard feelings, okay?

If you’ve read my old update post then I’m sure you’re aware where I’ve been and why. To sum it up: Summer Vacation. Now that I’m ready to hop back into things, I had to do another monthly favorites. They’re honestly one of my favorite parts about the beginning of a new month.
As you can see, I’ve been on a bit of a beauty kick this month. A few of the products have actually been favorites since July, but I thought I’d include them since I’m still loving them.
I’ve heard the hype and flat out ignored it until now. This lovely tube makes your skin look healthy and dewy. I still powder my t-zone as I have combo/oily skin but the rest of my skin is left looking glowy. Coverage is minimal but enough to even everything out. I can’t get enough!
Honesty time. I did not like this when I first used it. I thought to myself, “This is definitely not worth the money!” But recently I picked it up again and I don’t know what changed, but I love it! Great coverage and stays put.
I love the fine tip and the color is just what I was looking for. It lasts throughout the day and just makes the morning a lot easier.
I heard about this blush from the YouTuber Jaclyn Hill and was waiting for it to come back in stock. It was worth the wait for sure! Similar blushes would be NARS Orgasm and Benefit Coralista. It’s the same type of peachy pink glowy color.
Oh my gosh. I love this highlighter so much, I can’t believe I had never heard of it before! Shimmery but not glittery or unnatural. It is very pigmented so just a small tap of the brush will be enough. I also love to use it as an inner-corner highlight to brighten up the eyes.
Yet again, another product I refused to believe the hype about. The time it takes to do the face part of my makeup routine has sliced in half because of this. Get it wet, squeeze out in a towel, and tap onto face et voila! I wash it every morning as well before I use it.
I always love to check out the latest display of Essence products at my local Fred Meyer because they are just so inexpensive! This theme was all about summer and the beach. I spotted this gorgeous liquid bronze colored eyeliner and didn’t have to think twice. I love to use this in place of black for a more bronze cat-eye.
You gotta love those Sephora perks! Reading the description of the scent, I didn’t think I would like it, but oh was I wrong! I’m buying the full-size the second I run out. It smells warm and has a vanilla scent too. So good!

Well, that completes my monthly most loved! Now, bring on the season of falling leaves, hot cider, and cozy knits. I’m ready for ya.

This Might Sting A Bit...

Bee Venom. Now that sounds daunting doesn't it?
Yet again, I was shopping at Marshall’s (by now I’m sure you’ve probably figured out that I go there a lot!). I always have to check out their skincare aisle just to see if anything catches my eye. You could say I have a bit of an obsession. I was looking for a face cream and I saw one that contained both manuka honey and rosehip oil. I was sold, grabbed it, and was out the store pleased as ever. Later, when I got a chance to actually read the label I noticed (in bold mind you) “BEE VENOM.” It wasn’t until I read the back warning label that stated for people with bee allergies to avoid this product that it hit me. This genuinely has bee venom in it. The stuff that bees sting you with. Feeling both freaked out and excited I tried it out. Since I’m writing a post on it, one of two things could have happened: I hated it or I loved it …
… well, I loved it. I absolutely fell head over heels for this bad boy. There was a definite sting when applying it though so I won’t recommend for sensitive skin and also people with bee allergies for obvious reasons. When you use this your skin will instantly get very warm (not gonna lie, it’s verging more on hot ), like those warming face masks or if you eat something spicy. It goes away between 5-10 minutes so don’t worry. Alongside the heat there is also a faint stinging feeling. Lately my skin has been pretty darn happy. Considering this is the only product that has changed in my routine, I’m thinking this is what’s giving me the results. My skin is all around more even after about a month of using. Keep in mind the warnings first and foremost, you know your skin better than anybody else, if you think this isn’t for you- then skip it. However, if this intrigues you, try it out! You might just become addicted like me.. though now I have a whole new outlook on the phrase “Feel the burn.”

Traveling Near & Far

I am back from vacation! Tan lines, plenty of vitamin D, and summery makeup is what I have to gain.
I realize that I have been M.I.A. on the blog for a little while now but if you check out my other social media sites, there are a few pictures of my adventures.  So, back to the question: Where have I been?! Well, June – July was pretty busy for me and all at once, too. I know it’s the end of August now, but summer just seems to take away time!

This was my summer:

First off, I went to stay in Waldport, OR with my family at a rental beach home. I had a blast! There’s something about the family getting together that makes simpler things seem so much more fun.

Shortly after that I was preparing for my two week stay in Hawai’i visiting my college roommates-turned best friends-turned “sisters.” Immediately upon arrival we had a “stay-cation” at one of the hotels along Waikiki Beach for a couple of days and then returned to the other side of the island where I would be saying the rest of the trip. We rode a catamaran, went camping, and had loads of fun. After barely returning I was already having major withdrawals of the sandy beaches, Hawaiian food (two words: poke bowls), reggae music, and being with my friends. Hawai’i, I’m coming back for you.

Then, a few days after my return from Hawai’i, my grandma, my great aunt, and their friend visited for a week. It was really nice to see my grandma again seeing as she lives across the country and also to meet my great aunt for the first time!
Hopefully that explains things a bit for you guys. I intend to jump right back into the weekly posts and maybe throw in my first tutorial, who knows!

The Haul | & Mini Review

A couple weeks ago I was browsing the beauty section at Marshall’s when I came across some new brands of nail polish (not new per se, but new for the store). I’ll admit, I probably have one too many nail polishes in my collection but I just had to grab these. Yes, I’m aware I have a problem, but if I didn’t then I wouldn’t get to share a small review for you all! So then technically, it’s all for you right? Right.
Clockwise:
  1. Sephora Formula X – Hocus Pocus
    • Holographic lavender.
  2. Sephora Formula X – Surreal
    • Holographic sea foam green.
  3. Julep Nail Color – Bess
    • Minty, slightly muted, turquoise blue.
  4. Sephora Formula X – Black Hole
    • Black with charcoal “sandy bits” (totally a technical term)
As I have now had the chance to try out all of these polishes, I can give my honest two cents. First off, this is my first time trying out the Sephora Formula X polishes and I’ve got to say, wow. Every single one of them is suuuper smooth and pigmented (only needed one coat!) and lasted a long time. I’m thoroughly impressed. There is no deceiving color here as it is quite literally “what you see is what you get.” The only difference is that when I applied Surreal and Hocus Pocus, I was pleasantly surprised to find out they’re holographic. Bonus points! Black Hole was a different formula coming out almost as a texturized polish. Immediately I thought it would be a nightmare to remove but to my surprise it wiped right off. In fact, all three of the Formula X polishes removed effortlessly. So I’ve got to say, I think these are definitely worth the hype.
The Julep polish I bought is my second (as I write this I did go back and buy another color) that I own from the brand. I almost didn’t buy it because I thought I probably have one too many minty colors and this would be no different. But admit it, as nail polish addicts are, we still buy it because in our eyes there is a slight enough difference that justifies it. I’m so glad I did! I tried it on a bare nail and I also tried it on top of a white base. If you love Tiffany Co. blue, then this is verging pretty darn close to that color. It’s bright, creamy, and also very pigmented. It’s also lasted a good while on my nails which is a plus. I would recommend using a white polish as a base though just to really accentuate the color.

Until next time xx

Most Used | May

Summer is officially upon us, well, minus the still all too occasional breezy days. Over this past month, I’ve had the chance to try several new products (as you may have seen in my last haul) and really pick out the good and the bad. Brace yourself, I have a lot of favorites this month!

 Beauty

Clockwise:
  1. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush – Dim Light & Luminous Flush
    • These blushes give a beautiful lit-from-within glow. I pretty much have only been alternating between these two shades the whole month.
  2. Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer
    • Received this in my Ipsy bag and have used it every. single. day since.
  3. Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – Blonde
    • Suuper long lasting for sure! I just wish they had more shades to grab from like a light brown *fingers crossed*
  4. Bite Beauty BB for Lips – Tawny
    • Gorgeous “my-lips-but-brighter” and hydrating as well!
  5. Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stain – London Posh
    • Unlike I thought, this color had a bit of a metallic sheen to it, nothing over the top, but it gave a nice effect on the lips.
  6. Elizabeth Mott Pop! Goes the Shadow – Champagne
    • Honestly, the best inner-corner eye highlight!

Skincare

Clockwise:
  1. Boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil
    • This stuff wipes away your makeup so effortlessly, doesn’t sting the eyes, and smells refreshing. Slowly but surely becoming an HG product.
  2. Origins Out of Trouble Face Mask
    • Really did help my skin when it wasn’t looking its best.
  3. Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum
    • Smells of citrus and saw skin brightening improvements right away!
  4. Tree Hut Shea Sugar Body Scrub – Coconut Lime
    • Okay, this stuff smells amazingly good! Very tropical and great for transitioning into summer. Also, the scrub itself is very gritty and makes the skin silky smooth. I have also been using the Almond Honey scent and it smells like straight up marzipan, so good!

Fashion/ Lifestyle

Clockwise:
  1. Forever21 Wild Thing Strappy Sandals
  2. Cole Haan Sunglasses
  3. Music Favorites:
    • “Love Someone” – Jason Mraz
    • “Shades of Cool” – Lana Del Rey
    • “Sleeping With a Friend” – Neon Trees
    • “Am I Wrong” – Nico & Vinz
    • “Turn Blue” – The Black Keys
    • “O” – Coldplay
    • “Sing” – Ed Sheeran
  4. Chloé Roses De Chloé
    • Smells of roses and what better perfume to wear in the springtime as flowers are blooming!
  5. Forever21 Curved Bar Necklace
    • A simple necklace that goes with anything.

Bandon, Oregon

Oregon is one of those places I've learned to love.
Growing up I wished that I lived in a big city like NYC, LA, or hey, London! As I’ve gotten older I’ve become more appreciative of where I live. Oregon is beautiful! Honestly, it never stops being green even in the dead of winter. Hills, wildlife, and tons and tons of trees. Ever since I’ve moved here I have found one particular place to be my favorite: Bandon. Here in Oregon, we don’t have a “beach” but rather a brisk and sometimes windy “coast.” Rocks tower out of the crashing waves and large pieces of drift wood scatter the sand. So, may I introduce you to Bandon, truly one of my favorite places indeed.

Touchdowns & Pazookies

What went down over the weekend? Some good old fashioned American football, that's what.
As I have mentioned before, I do live in tree, mountain, and wildlife filled Oregon. We also happen to be home to the college football team, the Oregon Ducks and let me say, most Oregonians (unless you like those Beavers) are hardcore Duck fans. Like, ’till death do us part, hardcore. I am not one of those people but I am a fan of both the football team and especially the track team! Every spring, the Ducks have a charity football game where they basically just play each other for fun and the entry fee is canned or packaged foods. I’d say that’s an awesome deal! So we went.

After, we had to stop at this place called “BJ’s” which has amazing food and are also proud owners of the “pazookie.” If you haven’t heard or tasted one, be prepared to have your mind blown. A pazookie is pretty much a pizza cookie. It’s cookie dough baked in the oven until it’s golden brown but still fairly soft and dough-ey. Then they smack a big mound of ice cream on top. You not only get the mixture of hot and cold, but the flavors are endless (I got the new salted caramel flavor)! You can use any flavor of cookie dough as well as ice cream. Don’t knock it ’till you try it.

Spring Fling | Nail Polish Essentials

It’s spring. Although here in Oregon, I was questioning whether it would ever truly heat up. Just this past weekend we had a hail, rain, and wind storm. Yippee. Thankfully, these past two days have been heating up with plenty of sunshine! What I like to do on weekends is completely relax with a nice bubble bath, Netflix or a good book, candles, and some calming music. Ah, bliss. On occasion I also like to cheer up my hands with a fresh coat of polish. Which brings me to today’s post. As soon as spring comes around I whip out all of my girly pinks, lilacs, mint greens and so on. Here is a selection of my current preferences:

  • Essie ‘Lilacism’
  • Revlon Colorstay ‘Rich Raspberry’
  • Color Club ‘Pardon My French’
  • Zoya ‘Odette’
  • Butter London ‘Trout Pout’
  • Essie ‘Show Me the Ring’
  • Essie ‘Mint Candy Apple’

  • Overall I’m liking any form of pastel, whether it’s a bright pastel, muted pastel, or even a neon pastel. I’ve also been loving different shades of berry. I normally reach for the dark berry/wine shades during winter and fall but for spring and summer I’m liking these bright berry hues. Lastly, I had to pick out a coral, it’s one of those instant pick-me-up shades!
I figured instead of doing a monthly favorites (which I do intend to do in the future) I wanted to try out a series on all things spring related: Spring Fling. I have a few posts in mind for this so we’ll see where this goes. Stay tuned for next week!

The Review | Juice Beauty Simply Flawless Pressed Powder

When someone says the word, “organic,” while talking about makeup, I’m not gonna lie, I get skeptical. There have been products that either are really oily or don’t provide a nice finish and so on. Let’s just say, organic makeup has gotten a bit of a bad rap, but after trying Juice Beauty’s Pressed Powder I might start trying out some more natural products!
While out shopping, I spotted a bunch of random Juice Beauty cosmetics. The packaging may have been what drew me in, but the fact that the ingredients are a little better for me is what sold it. The color claims to be sheer but I would say that there is definitely still a faint bit of color. While applying, it produces a matte effect that I find actually lasts throughout the day. The product itself feels nice and buttery smooth but that being said, it is possible to go overboard if you use a real heavy hand. This powder gives the skin a smooth natural and even finish which I love.

Overall, I would recommend this product to both organic makeup skeptics and organic makeup lovers alike! Also, for any of you wondering, the product is labeled as “vegan,” “certified organic,” and is made from recycled paper.
